Join us for a tail-wagging good time to raise funds for THE PET REFUGE of North Kingstown! Our community fundraising event offers something special for every family member. Kids and adults alike will enjoy games, giveaways, and refreshments.
Have questions about pet care? VEG ER for Pets Emergency pet doctors will be on hand with a pet information station. Whether you're a seasoned pet owner or considering your first furry companion, expert advice will be just a conversation away.
All proceeds directly benefit The Pet Refuge.

The Pet Refuge
The mission of the 501(c)(3) non-profit no-kill Pet Refuge is to provide a warm home for abused and neglected cats from within the state of Rhode Island and also for those cats who can no longer remain in their homes for a variety of reasons. We supply our kitties with all the love, attention, pet medications, and veterinary care they need. We are a private entity funded by your donations.
In 1968, five concerned residents of Wickford, Rhode Island started the North Kingstown Animal Protection League to raise money for local animals. The word “Exeter” was added to the name in 1979 to include the town of Exeter. In 2004, the shelter property on Stony Lane was purchased from the late owner of the Stony Lane kennels. Today, Pet Refuge takes in cats and kittens from all over Rhode Island. We take in and adopt about 450 cats annually.
Veterinary emergency Group
Our major sponsor is VEG, helping to make life-saving care possible for pets in need in your community. Through donations from local families, fundraisers, and partners, VEG emergency veterinarians and veterinary nurses are empowered to make the best decision possible about each patient's care and say yes to treatment that could save their lives. It could be your neighbor's dog, who needs urgent surgery that his owner can't afford. Or a cat from a local rescue who's having trouble breathing and needs oxygen treatment to survive. Or a local family that has fallen on hard times and can't pay for their pet's care. Through VEG Cares, VEG can give them the medical care they need, when they need it most.
VEG - ER for Pets
Does your child want to be a VET? Join our little vets workshop classes in which we teach kids about what it's like to be a vet.
Adopt A Cat
The Pet Refuge will set up the paperwork necessary to adopt the cat you've always wanted.
Pet-Centric Giveaways
Pet frisbees, magnets, collapsible water bowls, pet waste bags, pens, and more. Also bags, pet balloons for kids and pup cups for dogs.
Family Fun Day
Pet-themed photo booth and “Kissing Booth”, food, refreshments, snacks, giveaways.
